1. Is a permit required for a garage sale?

A permit is not required to have a garage sale.  

• A maximum of two garage sales per year may be conducted at a dwelling address.
• Each separate garage sale may not exceed three consecutive days in duration.
• No garage sale shall occur earlier than the sixth day following the conclusion of a prior garage sale on the same property.
• Garage sales are not intended and shall not allow businesses to be operated our of homes.

2. How soon prior to trash pickup day can items be placed out for pick up?

Trash should be placed out for pickup no earlier than 6 p.m. the day prior to your scheduled pick up.

3. Are garage sale signs allowed?

Yes, garage sale signs are allowed.  Please note the following:

• Garage sale signs may not be placed in street medians, street parkways (the grassy areas along streets between the curbs and sidewalks), alleys or on other public property.
• Garage sale signs may be erected or placed on any residential property in the city, provided the person conducting the garage sale obtains permission for the erection or placement from the owner or occupant of the residential property.
• Garage sale signs may be placed on the residential property one day in advance of the sale and must be removed within one day following the sale.
• Garage sale signs cannot be placed closer than 15 feet to the back of the curb or if no curb exists, 15 feet to the edge of the pavement.
• A garage sale sign shall not exceed three square feet in area.
