FBTX ~ After 31 years in local government service, including 22 in Farmers Branch, Communications Director Tom Bryson will retire on January 4.

Mayor Dye honored him at Tuesday's City Council meeting with a plaque and a Mayoral proclamation designating December 5, 2020 through 2022 as Tom Bryson Day in Farmers Branch.

The President of the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers also conferred on Tom that organization's highest individual honor - the Cheryl A. Soward Communicator of Distinction. He previously served as president of both that organization and of the national City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA), where he was named national Communicator of the Year in 2016.

In retirement, Tom plans to work as a consultant for local governments and 3CMA.
