New adoption trailer unveiled at Bark Park opening

Adoption Trailer

FBTX ~ Made possible by a generous endowment left to the Animal Adoption Center by Ms. Sue Moore, mobile pet adoptions in Farmers Branch will now be more accessible.

The new mobile Adoption Trailer was unveiled as part of the festivities surrounding the opening of the Barney Wood Bark Park on Friday, the City's first-ever dog park.

"Until now, people that wanted to adopt a pet from the City of Farmers Branch went to the Animal Adoption Center, or viewed animals online, to discover the pets we house at our facility," said Mayor Pro Tem John Norwood. "Off-site adoption events are another means of introducing these future pets to the general public and this new Adoption Trailer enables us to do just that."

Ms. Dorothy Holley played a crucial role in making sure Ms. Moore's wishes were honored with the purchase and outfitting of the new trailer and the provision of two splash pads within the Barney Wood Bark Park.DOG PARK Splash Pad

The new trailer will allow Animal Services to have offsite adoption events in a more comfortable, air-conditioned environment. The unit can house a total of 18 animals with cages viewable on each side. The trailer can also be deployed to assist in disaster relief.

"These two ladies with their big hearts will play an ongoing part in saving lives and spreading joy by way of the animals to be adopted from this mobile unit and to all the dogs that will use the splash pads in this park," the Mayor Pro Tem concluded.
