Charles S. Cox, City Manager
Charles S. Cox was named City Manager by the Farmers Branch City Council effective May 3, 2016.
A 24-year veteran of the Farmers Branch staff, Mr. Cox began his municipal government career in Haltom City where he served from 1986 to 1993.
He is a 1983 graduate of Texas Christian University where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and of Southern Methodist University where he took his Master of Business Administration degree in 1991.
Active in professional circles, Mr. Cox is past president of the Government Finance Officers Association of Texas, and of the GFOA of the United States and Canada.
Additionally, he has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation since 2013.
John Land, Deputy City Manager
In 2016, John Land was promoted from Managing Director of Operations to Deputy City Manager. Returning to Farmers Branch in 2009, Mr. Land most recently served the Frisco Chamber of Commerce as President since 2007. Prior to that he was Vice President of Community Development for the Midland Chamber of Commerce, from 2002 to 2007, and President of the Farmers Branch Chamber of Commerce from 1994 to 2002.
Mr. Land was previously employed by the City of Farmers Branch as Special Projects Manager in the Parks and Recreation Department prior to joining the local Chamber office.
He received Institute of Organizational Management designation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 2005 and graduated from the University of Oklahoma's Economic Development Institute in 2006. Mr. Land is currently serving on the Farmers Branch Local Government Corporation and is a member of the Farmers Branch Rotary Club.
He has held positions on the Boards of Directors for the Texas Association of Business, Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives, North Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives Association and President of the Association of Texas Leadership Programs.
Ben Williamson, Assistant City ManagerBen Williamson was promoted to Assistant City Manager on January 23, 2019. Ben joined the City of Farmers Branch in 2017 as the Assistant to the City Manager. Mr. Williamson previously served the City of Southlake as their Emergency Management Coordinator/Assistant to the Director from 2014 to 2017. Prior to that, he served the City of Garland as their Senior Emergency Management Specialist from 2009 to 2014.
He is 2010 graduate from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Administration and Planning and a 2016 graduate from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Master of Public Administration.
Mr. Williamson continuously strives to improve and further develop his skill-sets; he carries multiple certifications that bring added value to the City of Farmers Branch including Project Management Professional, Certified Government Finance Officer, Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, and Certified Emergency Manager.
