Animal Adoption Center

The Farmers Branch Animal Adoption Center was opened to the public on May 7, 2009. The state-of-the-art facility has the capacity to concurrently house up to 37 dogs and 31 cats.

An interior “Get-to-Know” room and an outdoor “Get-to-Know” courtyard enable prospective pet owners to become acquainted with their future pets on-site, prior to completing the adoption process.

Citizen Collection Center

This facility is for Farmers Branch residents only. No commercial vehicles or contractors will be allowed use of the site. The facility features drive up dumpsters to drop off large trash and debris, along with regular household garbage and recycling items. There is no cost for Farmers Branch residents to use the facility.

Seated at the head of William Dodson Parkway, just south of Valley View Lane and less than a mile east of Interstate 35-E, Farmers Branch City Hall serves as the headquarters for the City organization and the seat of local government.

Opened in 1989, the two story structure is home to the City Manager's Office as well as the Finance, Human Resources, Community Services and Information Services departments on the first floor. The second floor houses the Parks and Recreation, Public Works and Economic Development & Tourism departments.

Fire Station No. 1 opened in 2012 as an updated facility to the original Station No. 1 which had grown small and outdated for contemporary firefighting operations. The replacement of Fire Station No. 1 was funded with a 2009 bond issue, approved by voters.

The Farmers Branch Community Recreation Center is a 60,000 square foot facility located in the heart of Farmers Branch. The facility offers many amenities as well as a variety of fitness, recreational, and educational opportunities are offered. Meeting rooms and a conference room are available for rental as well.

Historical Park

The Historical Park's purpose is to preserve and interpret the history of Texas and Peters Colony, with an emphasis on Farmers Branch. Since the park opened in 1986, many visitors have enjoyed the historical structures that are available for tours and rentals:

  • 1840s Log Culture Area (log house, barn and a replica of the Peters Colony Land Grant Office)
  • 1856 Gilbert House (listed on the National Register of Historic Places and as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark)
  • 1877 train depot and 1890s caboose
  • 1885 Queen Anne Victorian Cottage
  • 1890s old church
  • 1900s school house
  • 1920s General Store
  • 1937 Dodson House (listed as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark)
  • 1936 service station

The Branch Connection

The Branch Connection is one of the most thriving recreational facilities in the metroplex. The current location has been in operation since 2000 and has become a staple for active seniors in Farmers Branch.

The 22,400-square-foot facility offers more than 80 programs geared toward meeting the physical, mental, social, and emotional needs of individuals 50 and over.
