Located at 2500 Charlie Bird Parkway, this rose garden is an easy walk from the DART Station and on the west side of City Hall.
It is a test garden for several national rose growers for the evaluation of new roses on all of the characteristics consumers’ desire in a garden plant. The American Garden Rose Selections program (AGRS) has selected the garden as one of its test sites. The extensive two-year trial program is in test gardens located throughout the country and representing all climate zones. Rose varieties in these trial gardens receive only as much care as would be given in the average home garden.
Displays of Roses
Located along the DART Green line right of way is a collection of roses selected for the tolerance of some shade. While not ideal conditions, there is enough sun here to promote blooming roses. There are roses all sizes to guide the home gardener in the selection an appropriate rose. Old garden roses can be found throughout the garden.
Also located in this garden is a day-lily display garden. In cooperation with the Daylily Growers of Dallas over 250 different labeled cultivars are maintained and presented for viewing.
