If your pet has gone missing, please call Animal Services to see if it has been impounded. It is often helpful if you can email pictures to email@example.com. If your pet is microchipped and you have access to that information, that is also helpful.
Animal Services is able to arrange pickup of impounded pets Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm, and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. Please call ahead so we can arrange a staff member to assist you.
If you are picking up your lost pet, you must be 18 years or older or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. We will ask for proof of ownership in the form of photos or a microchip registered to the redeeming party. The impoundment fee starts at $20 for the first day and $10 for each additional day for STERILIZED animals, and proof of current rabies vaccination is required prior to redemption.
A microchip is MANDATORY for all animals who are impounded that are not already microchipped. The shelter will microchip your pet BEFORE release and you will be charged at $10 microchipping fee in addition to any impound fees.
IF YOUR PET IS NOT STERILIZED, you will be required to have this procedure performed as a condition of your pet's release. The redeeming pet owner will be required sign a sterilization / vaccination agreement . Citations will be issued for each violation of the signed sterilization/vaccination agreement.
For more information regarding these policies, please refer to the Farmers Branch City Ordinance:
