Library to discontinue use of online learning platform

FBTX ~ As of December 31, the Farmers Branch Manske Library will no longer subscribe to LinkedIn Learning, formerly, as the online learning tool plans to make substantial changes to its terms of service that would significantly impact library users' privacy.

Since acquiring, LinkedIn plans to require all users of the learning platform to create a LinkedIn profile, set to public by default and allowing full names to be searched on Google and LinkedIn.

Additionally, Library officials said that users of the online learning platform have dwindled significantly in the past year. Combining that with the privacy concerns of the new platform, the Library made the decision to discontinue their subscription.

The Manske Library will continue to research other online learning options to evaluate the best possible platform for local users.
