Trail work continues with east side projects & west side trail alignment planning

FBTX ~ With the stated goal of promoting a safe pedestrian and bicycle-oriented trail network, construction continues on the Farmers Branch Trail System.

The Trail Master Plan was adopted by the City Council in 2015. It received a boost from voters in 2017 when a $7 million bond issue was approved that would, in part, support the new system.

Contractors are currently working to expand the northbound Marsh Lane Bridge over Farmers Branch Creek to create a nine-foot-wide pedestrian pathway.

Nearby, work continues on a 12-foot hike and bike trail on the north side of Valley View Lane / Alpha Road from Rosser to New Castle Drive. The 1.5-mile section is being constructed along the edge of the Brookhaven College campus.

In the meantime, the Westside trail connection is a work in progress with staff working to finalize the trail alignment with the consultant that will ultimately construct a 12-foot wide trail from the DART Green Line to the Campion Trail in Irving.
